The story of Prückler dates back to the late 19th century. Founded in 1834 in Budapest by Ignácz Prückler, the brand’s sparkling wines soon became favourites of the elite of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. So much so that Prückler was awarded the prestigious k.u.k. title — the official Imperial and Royal recognition, a mark of the highest quality of its time. This spirit lives on today: dignified quality in a redefined brand.
First in Hungary
In 1834, Ignác Prückler founded Hungary’s first rum, liqueur and sparkling wine factory at what is today Ráday Street 30, well ahead of the later, more widely known sparkling wine producers.
Innovation and craft
The factory marked a breakthrough in Hungarian sparkling wine production, specialising in sparkling wines at a time when they were still far from popular.
Royal Recognition
Archduke Rudolf of Habsburg not only tasted Prückler’s sparkling wine, but spoke of it with genuine appreciation, ordering 150 bottles for a court banquet. Prückler was awarded the prestigious k.u.k. title, the official Imperial and Royal recognition, a mark of the highest quality of its time.
Historic industrial leader
By the end of the 19th century, the Prückler factory had grown into one of the country’s most significant sparkling wine producers, becoming a defining force within the industry.
