The heritage story of the first Hungarian méthod traditionnelle brut Sparkling Wine

Dates back to the late 19th century

Founded in 1834 in Budapest by Ignácz Prückler, the brand’s sparkling wines soon became favourites of the elite of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. So much so that Prückler was awarded the prestigious k.u.k. title — the official Imperial and Royal recognition, a mark of the highest quality of its time. This spirit lives on today: dignified quality in a redefined brand.

First in Hungary

In 1834, Ignác Prückler founded Hungary’s first rum, liqueur and sparkling wine factory at what is today Ráday Street 30, well ahead of the later, more widely known sparkling wine producers.

Innovation and craft

The factory marked a breakthrough in Hungarian sparkling wine production, specialising in sparkling wines at a time when they were still far from popular.

Historic industrial leader

By the end of the 19th century, the Prückler factory had grown into one of the country’s most significant sparkling wine producers, becoming a defining force within the industry.

Prückler is Hungary’s first reimagined sparkling wine brand built on the acquisition of tradition, drawing equally from the legacy of the past while speaking to today’s cosmopolitan, experience-driven and life-loving generation.

Prückler is a distinctive sparkling wine that blends the character of Lake Balaton with the traditions of French sparkling winemaking.
It is crafted from grapes grown in the Balaton wine region, with the process curated by French sparkling wine experts, while every step of production is carried out by an emerging, young Hungarian winemaker. Made using the traditional French method, Prückler is produced from furmint, chardonnay and pinot noir grapes.

At the heart of the brand lies duality: heritage and contemporary mindset, quality and hedonism, elegance and ease — in perfect harmony.
Prückler is a niche sparkling wine brand whose consumption is not tied to special occasions, but to a way of life: made for the here and now.

The Prückler Team developed its winemaking vision by focusing on collaboration with small local producers rather than relying on historic vineyards, aiming to preserve traditional production methods while building quality through partnerships with our micro-producers. The first brut produced under the Prückler project was released in 2024 and was first officially distributed to partners and dealers in 2026.

The Kincsem story

After the death of Ignácz Prückler, the sparkling wine factory was taken over by his two sons.

It was during this period that Prückler began producing and selling Kincsem sparkling wine, named after the legendary Hungarian racehorse whose era symbolised excellence, prestige and national pride.

The design

Prückler sparkling wine does not always follow convention.

It breaks away from the traditional sparkling wine bottle, sending a clear message: daring to step beyond the familiar is part of its identity.

Its design blends premium elegance with a bold, joyful and youthful sense of life.
